Director of Communications
Haley Chitty is the director of communications at the American Herbal Products Association (AHPA). He has more than 10 years of nonprofit communications and public relations experience and specializes in leveraging new technology to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
Before joining AHPA in June 2013, Chitty served as director of communications at the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) where he used online and traditional media to keep members informed about the latest student aid news, legislation and regulations. He also implemented innovative communications strategies to inform and influence policymakers and the media about effective student aid policies.
Before joining NASFAA in 2005, Chitty worked at Washington Partners, LLC, a government affairs and public relations consulting firm that focuses on education policy. Chitty was the editor of two online publications and a website that focused on higher education and the federal student loan program. Before moving to Washington, DC in 2004, he worked as a freelance writer and reporter for the Broomfield Enterprise in Colorado. He holds a News/Editorial Bachelor’s degree from the University of Colorado’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
