Holly E. Johnson, Ph.D., participated in a panel on collaboration in the functional mushroom industry

American Herbal Products Association (AHPA) Chief Science Officer Holly E. Johnson, Ph.D., recently participated in The Mushroom Summit in Monterey, CA, June 5-6, 2024. The Mushroom Summit brings together industry veterans, entrepreneurs, scientists, retailers, and mushroom enthusiasts for cutting-edge research, hands-on activities, expert insights, and valuable experiences that immersed attendees into the world of functional mushrooms.
 
At the second annual summit, Dr. Johnson joined Christopher Hobbs, Ph.D., Kyle Garrone (Far West Fungi), and Sean Steller (Phillips Mushroom Farms) for a panel on “Collaboration Over Competition.” The group of experts discussed the unique collaborative nature of the functional mushroom industry and how businesses can leverage this inclusive community to identify strategic partnerships.
 
“It was a privilege to come together with colleagues in support of the growing functional mushroom industry,” said Dr. Johnson. “With consumer interest in functional mushrooms at an all-time high, it's more important than ever to engage the community and collaborate to move the product category forward safely and responsibly.”
 
Also in attendance of the summit were representatives from AHPA members Alkemist Labs, Aloha Medicinals, Ceres Greenhouse Solutions, Gourmet Mushrooms, Fungi Perfecti, M2 Ingredients, MegaFood, and Supplement Advisory Group, among others.
